If Brian had met Justin after Gus was born, and maybe after the cancer, how do you think that would have affected their initial relationship? Would Brian still try to get Justin to go away?

Sad as it is for me to think, Already Gone is so right for Brian and Justin. Well, if you are of the mindset that Brian was a bridge for Justin. Which I do not! They are OTP! Even for Justin, Brian is the only one! And yes, I am trying to convince myself after hearing this song. *Sniff*

I made an icon from an interview some of the QAF cast did with Larry King years ago. I am not a shipper of the actors at all, but this moment really happened and I wanted to icon it. It's a sweet friendship moment to me. I hope you enjoy it! The icon is only for IJ, fyi. Take it if you like it.

ETA- Oops, I seem to be wrong about the interview. Thanks to suze_y for the heads up. It is actually Brian and Justin giving an interview to Larry King on the one-year anniversary of the landmark Federal law in support of gay marriage. Brian and Justin were the first couple in Pa to marry under this law, and Larry King had them on to talk about how gay marriage hasn't destroyed the earth and all of its inhabitants like some opponents had speculated. In the middle of asking a question, Larry's mic shorted out. You can hear part of the question in the clip above. The full question was, "Do you ever have any regrets of taking the part of husband," to which Brian immediately replied, "No. Not at all." Then comes Justin's whispered, "I love you."

Or it might be an interview from when Justin and Brian were porn stars, before moving back to the Pitts. (Thanks to michira_70 for this info.)

Frankly, Brian and Justin have become such tv staples since Kinnetic went international and since Justin became the favorite living artist of President Jon Stewart, that it is hard to pinpoint exactly when this interview was given!

A fic rec and some icons!

A long time ago, notreallyme wrote an awesome post-513 fic. I came late to this knowledge, and want to make sure that no one else missed out on this gem. It doesn't really have a name, so I dubbed the fic "Notreallytheend." Check it out: Clicky click.

I like the fic for a number of reasons, but one of the biggest is that the characters ruminate about the break-up in S2 and how it effects them today. I love that! (Are there any fics that address the S5 breakup? I feel a new craving coming on.)

In the story, Brian takes up (SPOILER ALERT!) photography. I was perusing some screencaps of the actor who plays Brian and made some icons that could totally be a part of this story. And then I expanded my search to the show and had to include Justin. So, with notreallyme's blessing, I offer some of the cheesiest (and a couple of cute ones) icons ever:

Q: How can I have a pretty background and a header in my journal? I used to use the "background image" spot as the place to put my header URL, but if I want a pretty background, like my current snowflakes, I need a new place for my header URL.

I recently found out about PS Actions, which is automated effects programs for Photoshop. One of my favorites is the snowglobe, to get graphics like:

(I added the text to the picture before I made the snowglobe.)

(Hee, I stuck a sign in there since Brian is holding Michael's hand and that looked out of place.)

Anyway, if any of you graphic makers want me to make you a snowglobe that you can then take and make something with- header, banner, icon, etc- I'd be happy to do so. It's quick and easy with PS Actions. Just let me know what picture and background color you want. This effect may be available on automated effect websites or in other programs, but I don't know for sure. If so, feel free to LOL that my discovery isn't all that special. :)

I can also email you the file, and you can make your own changes.

Meredith Baxter is gay. A blurb from the post on ONTD: Her son Peter’s reaction, like that of his siblings, was both reassuring and supportive. "I just couldn't stop smiling," says Peter, 25, "because she finally figured it out." Read the article here.

I love this article for many reasons, the main ones: 1) She says she didn't questioning her sexuality before her second same-sex relationship and 2) her son seemed to know she was a lesbian before she did. I find the latter an amusing twist of the 'parents usually know before the kid,' like Debbie in QAF. But it's the former that really grabbed me- the lack of her questioning. I have this notion that people either know they are gay or at least question and suspect it. But to just be living your life and not quite being able to make your life fit your true self... The implications of this kind of stagger me- that (some) people can't know how to make themselves complete. I find this idea sad.

Of course we can't ignore what she said about her first lesbian relationship:

Thirteen years ago I had a short-term affair with somebody — a woman — who I just cared for tremendously as a person, [I] was not really attracted to her, but the best way to describe it, [a romance] seemed like the next natural step in our relationship just because I cared about her a lot. Not once — it’s probably hard to imagine — but not once did it occur to me that I was a lesbian. Not once. I just thought, OK, I don’t think so, and went off and got married again for a short period of time...

She later said that she realized she was gay as an "A-ha!" epiphany moment. Like this first relationship didn't clue her in? I don't really have anything relevant to say, I just find it interesting to read about her experience.

I love that she came out. As she said, people who have family or friends who are gay are more open-minded about it. She can serve as a "friend" for those who don't know any gay people. More than advocacy, being a role model, etc, I think this is the most important role for famous people. JMO.

Hey hey! I am really into making/remaking animated icons with the awesome 100kb limit for Insane Journal. It's so amazing the difference! I totally want to do prom and pride dance moments, and the hot bike scene of S4. And practically every other moment, heh. But I wanted to ask if any of you have something specific you'd like me to tackle. So, anyone? Anyone?

Also, brianslave68 asked me about writing a tutorial for making anim icons, eeep, heee. Would anyone be interested in that?

I am trying to make an animated icon, which is pretty straightforward except for trying to get it to fit under the 40kb limit. So, when is it ok to lower the color number from 256 to 200 or even 128? Or is it always imperative to keep the color at 256? TIA!

* Remember that European-timed marathon is today! \0/ It's so fun to watch with others. Today is episode 104.

* What do you think Justin's birthdays were like in the later seasons? Did Brian throw him a bone and take him out to a nice dinner a week early? Buy him a pair of fancy socks so his feet wouldn't always be cold? Or would he actually buy him a real present and give it without subterfuge?

* I've been feeling kind of wanky about Brian lately, and not in a plaw. I want to write a story where Justin doesn't go back to Brian in S3 because he wants and expects more from a partner than Brian willingly gives. Brian's "won't" attitude just doesn't cut it with Justin anymore. So, Justin moves on and dates others and is genuinely happy most of the time. I want Brian to break though sooner rather than later, and without it involving a medical crisis. But I can't get Brian to that place. He is so stubborn! It kind of reminds me about when I wanted Keith and Veronica from Veronica Mars to just move the hell away from that horrid town, lol. It would ruin the show and the relationship dynamics but would feel so good. I try not to elevate Justin to sainthood but damn, he really did put up with a lot that didn't have to do with tricking. Brian is so broken, why would anyone wish a relationship with him on someone he or she cared about? Although, I have to admit that Brian seemed to stop flaunting tricks in the loft after 206, except for the return-from-Vermont time. Sigh. They are both so complicated.

This is an icon I made for the Change category for the Fall Challenge, but I couldn't get the coloring right. Grrr. I really like the message though and am bummed that the QAF caps are so hard to work with. But look at it and feel "teh love" and rejoice in Brian's growth :)

What kind of Halloween candy do you think Brian likes? Of course he wouldn't get any for himself, but would sneak some from Gus's stash.

Brian dressed up for Halloween this year! (Totally snaggable and you are welcome to make changes to it.)

I think Brian would like Hershey special darks, from the Hershey miniature bag. He would like that it is small but especially like the unique taste- kinda sweet and bitter.

For the Fall Challenge Change catergory, I made a graphic and then didn't know what to do with it. Is a header waiting for some extra work? An icon looking to be downsized? I played with it for awhile and never really figured it out, so I didn't submit it. I think the sentiment is cool though and worth checking out. And I'd love suggestions for what I can do with it.
